A story about me
I am not so sure about this 43 people site. I am having a hard time coming up with 43 people that I want to meet. Other than some of the great people I have met on 43 Things, there really aren’t many people that I want to meet in real life that I don’t already know.
For the most part, I don’t like celebrities. Okay, that isn’t right, I quite like celebrities, but I like their persona a lot more than their real life person. I remember the first time that I saw a celebrity that I thought I respected on the David Letterman show and I was so dissapointed. Since then, although I avoid any exposure to these shows, a large population of the celebrities have gone a long way to lower any future expection for respect.
So, George Clooney seems like a great guy and I have nothing but respect for Bono. I just don’t want to find out that these guys are self-centered, egotistical, insecure and pompous. Same goes for just about everone famous. This goes double for models and actresses. Did you know that Kathy Ireland apparently isn’t that bright and Leah Remini is a scientologist…
I once heard that you should never talk to surgeons and airplane pilots at cocktail parties because you will find out that they are just normal people-some of them assholes, racists and homophobes, like the rest of the population. I think avoiding celebrities is even better advice, as you will find out, many of them are not normal people…
